Money Matters

Oxfam (NZ)

As a Board Member of Oxfam (NZ) Rodger’s influence included strengthening the relationship between Oxfam and the responsible investment community. This included inviting Oxfam’s Executive Director to speak at the annual Responsible Investment Association conference and having Oxfam as the charity the conference supported.

Oxfam internationally took a lead in encouraging responsible investment with the publication of Better returns for a better world, that noted:

Of particular importance in determining whether, and the extent to which, private investment delivers positive developmental impacts are the decisions that investors make about where to invest, what activities or sectors to invest in, and the extent to which investment decisions take account of social and environmental, as well as financial returns. Investors can play a very important role in encouraging the companies in which they invest to take a proactive approach to the management of their social and environmental impacts.
